Teachers as human beings that they are could not be ready for every aspect that happens in the world. They are not foretellers and probably due the factor that they have a live out the work environment they might not read the paper or watch the news every day. Those kinds of awkward moments with the technology could be present in any moment during the class. It is important to learn how to deal with these issues inside of the classroom, but like in the article if sometimes is necessary sending a kid to the principal office to make a stand, just do it.
LEARNING OCCURS IN CONTEXT
Technology can facilitate learning by providing real world contexts that engage learners in solving complex problems (Duffy & Cunningham, 1996; Honebein, 1996; & Cognition and Technology Group at Vanderbilt, 1992). See this idea, technology will become extremely important in any class in the future, our kids were born in a tech-age so for teachers in the future will be easier to explain difficult topics like math using media interactive games. Try to imagine a class of medicine where the future physicians could see every surgery in 3D as much time as they want, such example could save some lives in the future.
LEARNING IS ACTIVE
Be part of the solution, every time that a kid involves in the learning process the teacher win and the student gain knowledge, the process of learning by doing with the teacher as a facilitator, guiding the kid in every part, but let him constructing, build their own knowledge is the best way to achieve the maximum goal of a teacher, create a self sufficient person.
LEARNING IS SOCIAL
Globalization is real and is now. Why teachers could not use it in order to increase the level of expertise? And, why students could not use this global network to share information to obtain knowledge, to build networks that in the future they could use always thinking in the improvement of their lives.
LEARNING IS REFLECTIVE
Looking to inside is a great way to grow, but sometimes we need that an external helper gave us some advice. The same happen with our learning process teacher and student could gain a lot, with the appropriate feedback. Technology is an excellent tool to receive and to give feedback from anywhere and anytime.
One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man. ~Elbert Hubbard, The Roycroft Dictionary and Book of Epigrams, 1923
